The long bob that is....
Back in July I decided to chop 7" off my hair and loved it. Why not go even shorter...??
Heidi Klum is my inspiration for a lot of things and when I saw this pic...I had to have it. She does the LOB perfectly.
My hair appointment was tonight with my always fabulous hair guy and since the wedding(s) are done and I don't have to worry about up do's I wanted to chop some more off (5 inches actually).
Love it!!

The LOB
My dream NYE outfit!

This is my dream NYE outfit if (A) I was rich and (B) I was going to a fab party!
A girl can wish right?!?
Tomorrow night we are spending a fun night in for NYE with our good friends Joe, Lauren, and Bjorn with some yummy food, booze, and games. We usually do the night out on the town in Chicago but this year we wanted something a little more low key with good friends.
Have a happy (and safe) New Year's Eve!!

Love gift cards
For Christmas this year my grandparents got me a gift card from Victoria's Secret. I was so excited to order the leggings I have been pining over for about a month. Even better, they were on sale!
Thanks again Mema and Papa!!
Yoga leggings in black and gray. I got the sweatshirt too in the grey color shown (back ordered until 1-25 boo).
Long tee in purple, perfect with a cardigan and the leggings. (was on clearance...score!)Monday, December 28
Movie Review: Avatar
![]()
D has been wanting to see Avatar since before it came out and I had no interest at all. I am not a fan of the ginormous budget huge action movies. So, yesterday we wanted to see a movie on our relaxing Sunday. I caved and agreed to see it in 3D. To be honest the 3D intrigued me since I had never seen a movie in 3D, I know I have been living under a rock.
When we got to the theater and I learned the movie was almost 3 hours (WHAT!!!) I almost changed my mind and switched movies but (sigh) this is something the hubs really wants to see so I'll suck it up and watch it. Compromise right?!?
So movie starts, 3D glasses on, this is super cool!! Loving the 3D. We were 15 minutes into the movie and I'm already sucked in. I anticipated moving, shifting, numb butt, unbearable 3 hours. But the whole movie I barley moved, I didn't really notice my leg had gone numb.
Even though I got dragged to the movie (kicking and screaming basically) I LOVED it!! The back story behind all the action and cool graphics was amazing. And the 3D, super cool. If you see it, see it in 3D for sure.
So...maybe the hubs does have good (OK) taste in movies and he was right this time!! :-)

Shiny new toy!
A wonderful Christmas
Christmas Eve
D and I headed to the hospital to spend time with his family and new baby. They have a really nice garden room in the maternity wing with an oven they let us use to cook dinner and hang out for the night. We exchanged gifts, ate lots of food, and spent time with miss Zoe. She is a doll and I can't get enough of her.
After a few hours at the hospital D and I headed north to my parents house.
After gifts and cinnamon rolls (yum). We headed to the movies, a tradition for us. This year we picked Sherlock Holms. SO good!! After the movie we made prime rib roast, ate tons of food, and watched Twilight on my step dads new LCD tv and blue ray player. It was awesome.
It was a great first Christmas as a married couple!!
Awesome lap laptop pillowToday when D and I cleaned the whole house, even the fridge. Off to the grocery store and to look at new lap tops...whoo hoo!! Maybe my next post will be from a shiny new lap top!!

Introducing our niece
Introducing our niece...
12.23.09
9lb 5oz
20.5"
Mom and baby and doing great. Stacy's c-section went very smooth and she is resting and recovering. We are spending Christmas eve with them and D's parents in the hospital. We are bringing food and our 3' tree to make it as Chritmas-y as we can. We are beyond excited to have such a beautiful niece. What a great Christmas gift!!
Off to the hospital we go...
D and I are headed to the hospital (about an hour from us) to meet our niece. My SIL, Stacy had a c-section scheduled for this morning because the baby is breach. Baby is two days shy of 40 weeks so she is ready to join the world.
They did reveal the sex of the baby at 20 weeks but they have kept the name a surprise from everyone. This is the first niece and grandchild for both sides of their family so needless to say we are all very excited and anxious! For me this is special because I am an only child and growing up I never knew if I would ever get to be an aunt, today I do!!
I will post pics later!!

Survey x-mas style
I saw this cute Holiday survey over on Lindsey at The Wynn's World blog so I borrowed it.
My Holiday Survey...
1. Wrapping paper or gift bags?
Mix of both. I have just recently become an OK present wrapper so I am shying away from the gift bags more and more.
2. Real tree or artificial?
I prefer real but my tree is fake. It's much easier, especially with a cat that loves to eat ANY type of plant or flower.
3. When do you put up the tree?
Weekend after Thanksgiving.
4. Do you like eggnog?
Yuck!!!
5. Favorite gift received as a child?
I remember the year I got my bike. I was SOOO excited and I still remember the feeling I had that morning.
6. Do you have a nativity scene?
I do not.
7. Hardest person to buy for?
My step dad.
8. Easiest person to buy for?
My husband.
9. Mail or email Christmas cards?
Mail all the way!
10. Favorite Christmas movie?
Elf and the original Grinch.
11. When do you start shopping for Christmas?
Mid November. I like to be done by December to avoid the malls entirely. I do a lot of shopping online too.
12. Favorite thing to eat at Christmas?
Cookies...mmmm.
13. Clear lights or colored lights on the tree?
Clear! Not a huge fan of the colored lights.
14. Favorite Christmas song?
I am not a big Christmas music fan. I do like the Kenny Chesney CD and his song 'All I want for Christmas is a real good tan'. Also, 'Baby it's cold outside'.
15. Travel or stay home at Christmas?
Stay at home. My mom decorates and her house looks like the ones in the magazines. She has 7 trees in her house, so pretty.
16. Can you name all of Santa's reindeer?
Negative!
17. Angel on tree top or star?
Nothing. Maybe I should buy one for next year.
18. Open the presents Christmas Eve or morning?
My in laws do Christmas eve and my P's do Christmas morning. So both!
When I was younger my mom used to let me open one gift on Christmas eve and I loved that tradition, I will carry on with my kids.
19. The most annoying thing about this time of year?
The malls being so crowed with crazy shoppers.
20. What I love most about Christmas
Spending time with family, my Christmas tree lit up in a dark house, the smell of Christmas Yankee candles, this year: meeting my niece, remembering the magical feeling of Christmas as a kid and still feeling that way!

Weekend Re-cap
What a crazy busy weekend I have had...but oh so fun!!
Friday: I can finally tell you now that the surprise is over!
D and I took Friday off work to head to New Buffalo, MI to surprise our friend Joe for his birthday. He is a big fan of casinos and there is a really fun one in MI (about 2 hours away). His girlfriend had been planning this surprise for over a month.
We went to a Michigan winery (Tabor Hill) during the day and made sure to get there before Joe and Lauren. When they arrived, for what Joe thought was a nice day with his girlfriend, we were there to surprise him. There ended up being 7 of us at the winery for the day.
Later on that night at dinner, his brother and SIL and our other friends Dave and Catherine were there to surprise him again. After an awesome dinner we headed to the casino for a night of fun. We had all booked hotel rooms nearby way before.
D and I aren't gamblers and the only casino I had been to was Vegas but we had such a blast. This place (Four Winds) was huge. It was like an amusement park! We left for the night $180 up, which is awesome considering I thought we would leave like $300 in the hole for the weekend.
Saturday:
My (our) work party was at my parents house. We all get together with significant others to eat tons and play really fun games. D and I won the present wrapping game and won a Target gift card.
Each couple can only use one hand each to wrap this gift (Kleenex box). It's so difficult but really fun!! Yay on the win! (we are lower left in pic)Sunday:
My grandma had recently fallen and broke her hip so we visited her in the recovery nursing home. She lives 4 hours north of us in Wisconsin. LONG day of driving but it was good to see her a few hours.

Will we ever move??
I have been asking myself this question daily!
We still have no renter and haven't had anyone even look at the place since we got back from Hawaii in October....ahhhh....makes me want to scream!
I am so desperate to move to the suburbs and I feel like we are stuck in a mortgage. The company we hired to rent our place out I'm sure is doing their best but there has got to be a quicker way to get our place rented?!? Is the economy really that bad that people aren't even renting??
I really want to move before the Chicago snow starts really coming down and I'm nervous we may be stuck here another winter. The commute is really wearing on us and we are so tired of driving all the time.
I am trying to stay positive but all I want to do is complain...uhhh!!!

Willpower
My office around the holidays is like a torture zone. Clients send us baskets, people bring in cookies, there is food everywhere!! It is definitely a true test of my willpower not to eat it!!
This is what my office kitchen currently looks like with treat baskets, cookies, chocolate, popcorn tub....pure torture!!
I must say I am really proud of myself because I have shown great restraint in not eating any of this! Well I had one cookie the other day, but that's pretty good.

Why I love this week
*I have a 4 day work week. More on why this weekend!!!
*My company work party is on Saturday.
*I will meet my niece in 9 days (if she doesn't come sooner). My SIL has a c-section scheduled for the 23rd, baby girl is currently breach. I can't wait to finally learn her name, they have kept it a secret from everyone and it has been driving me nuts :-)
*Christmas is SUPER close!
*We got approved to lower our mortgage after 4 months of waiting for their answer. YAY!!
Have a great week!
Night on the magnificent mile
Saturday night Derek and I headed downtown to Michigan Ave for some shopping and camera practice with all the pretty Christmas lights. It was a fun and relaxing night with the hubs, walking around with Starbucks in hand!! We had planned to eat at Cheesecake Factory in the John Hancock building but didn't anticipate a 1.5 hour wait so we ate closer to our house and away from the holiday mob on Mich Ave.
Here are some cool shots I got...for some reason lights at night look cooler in black and white!
