He is off his Fentanyl (pain meds) and is up to 3cc of milk every 3 hours. They want to try and keep upping it every day/ every other day. So far he is tolerating the milk expect the one time he threw up when I was sitting with him. I'm glad I got to see his first time but I was sad, I was able to clean him up and he was content again!
We have been doing Kangaroo Care every night the past few days for least 2 hours. He really seems to enjoy it and is able to get some good sleep! I finished my book on K Care and I am so impressed with the benefits of it, even doing it after we have him home. We will definitely be continuing it for a while.
B has a CT scan scheduled for Wednesday. They want to check his brain for puss pockets (infection pockets) from the meningitis and the bleed. They can't see any on an ultra sound so they are either really small or there are none. Treatment would be extra time on the antibiotic.
His weight is 3lb 6.5 oz, some is fluid still but he is slowly gaining :-)
Yesterday D and I were able to get home for the day. We bought a deep freezer, a small one, 5 cubic feet. I need the extra storage for milk and it will last 6 months in a deep freezer! I got to spend time with (my oldest friend) Amy and her son Caleb for a few hours. Her and her mom made me a beautiful bracelet with B's name and his birth stone in crystals. Thank you again!
Today we have brunch planned with D's family and then my parents are heading down tonight. My mom is very excited to sit with me tonight during our K Care!
Enjoy your Sunday! I am loving the Fall weather, even though my Yankee (Fall) candles are still waiting for me at home to be lit I am still finding ways to enjoy Fall. PS I think if I eat another Starbcks pumpkin muffin I will start looking like a muffin....LOL. Good thing I'm burning the extra 500 calories from pumping, my stomach went down so fast, I'll post a postpartum pic soon.

Love the hat....so perfect in more ways than one! Keep the good news coming!
Seeing the kangaroo care makes my heart melt! I can remember the first time we got to hold our baby girl (5 days after she was born) and how I just started bawling. It seems so simple, but means soooo much! Glad to see that pumping is going so well for you. Love the deep freezer in the dining room! We are still going strong on the breastfeeding at almost 9 months old. Keep up the good care of your little one!

It is really amazing how great kangaroo care is for babies. I'm glad he's doing so well!!!
You can really see that he's improved just from the pictures, and that is wonderful!! Still saying those prayers for you. :)
How wonderful and encouraging! Praise God he's doing better! I cannot wait for the day he gets to go home with his wonderful parents =)
love reading updates about little B. So glad he is progressing well!
i accidentally stumbled across your blog this afternoon and have had goosebumps and teary eyes while i read about your son. we had our first child, a little boy, born in june at 28.5 weeks and weighing in at 2 pounds. he also had two brain bleeds, a level 2 and 3 and hydrocephalus (fluid around the brain) my heart goes out to you- he has been home for about 5 weeks now but was in the NICU for about 2 months. we suffered through the spinal taps, brain scans, blood transfusions, etc and will never forget what that all felt like! and kangaroo care-isn't it the best?! we have also been told that we will have to "wait and see" what type of struggles will be a result of the bleeds, and i think that's the hardest part. and at the same time, they are such beautiful, perfect babies, that you can often times forget about what may lay ahead. we will say many prayers for your family and brayden. isn't it great how resilient and amazing such little people can be?!
best wishes,
ashley b.
Such great news all around! Love that hat, and I can absolutely tell a difference in his size in those pictures!
Praise the Lord for small steps in the right direction!!
Wow! Brayden is truly thriving. PTL!!! The hat is truly fitting. A true miracle in a little 3 lb body! And you, my dear, are an inspiration!!
Apparently, it's been a few weeks since I've visited your blog - it took me a bit to catch up. Congratulations on your little miracle...he is so so sweet! Glad that mommy and baby are doing well.
Hey, somehow I have missed all of this and just got caught up. First of all I just want to say congrats on being a mommy and for giving birth to such a strong little boy! I can't imagine what all you are going through and my thoughts are with you and your family. It does seem like little Brayden is handling things very well for the most part! Congrats again and I can't wait to hear more good news!
