Brayden has been getting physical therapy and occupational therapy since he was in the NICU. Now that we are (fingers crossed) done with hospitals we take him to see his PT/OT on our own. Luckily our insurance allows us to go to a private facility instead of the state run programs.
He goes twice a week and loves his time with his therapy ladies. He has always been really easy to work with, so the therapists tell me. The place we found is really awesome with him. They teach us techniques to do at home and are really hands on with us and him.
They are really happy with his progress already and we all have high hopes for our little mans development. He is behind, according to age standards, but for what he has been through he is doing amazingly!!
He will need PT/OT most of his life I think but we will do whatever we can to help him thrive as much as possible!
In other news, B got formula for the first time last week. Yup this pumping 'machine' momma was able to feed him only breast milk until 5.5 months old. Lots and lots of hours pumping but I am so glad he was able to get the good stuff so long.
I was nervous about giving him formula. I had all these grand plans of breastfeeding until he was 1 ect ect. In reality, he never breast fed and for a mom of preemie to get as much milk as I did is amazing so I am happy with that.
We picked a preemie formula after talking to the nutritionist at the hospital, he needs some extra calories. (Similac NeoSure). To our surprise he LOVES formula. He eats more during a feeding and eats faster. It also keeps him full longer. Success!!
His fave place to nap is his play mat, oh well, a nap is a nap!

That is awesome that you got 5.5 months of milk for B! I pumped like crazy too for our son but quickly ran out by the time he came home and he supplemented in the NICU too. Congrats!
Yay for the sweet boy! He's such a fighter and a cutie!
Awe ya for the formula thats great.. he's such a cutie pie.
He looks precious and peaceful! So glad I found your blog. I will pray that things continue moving smoothly for your little family! xxx
Awesome that the thearpy ladies are sweet...such a blessing! What a cute picture!
Glad to hear that everything is going well and that he is taking to the formula so easily!
Hello dear Heather and sweet BEAUTIFUL Brayden
This is Rita, from Calgary, mom of another preemie cutie, Bella, born at 25 weeks.
I have been following B's development and have been praying all along for him and for you. I understand way too well what you have been through and am so happy to see he is safe and sound at home.
I also pumped FOREVER, for 7 months with the help of drugs to help with milk supply. She never breastfed either, which made me sad, but in the end of the day we provided breast milk for our tiny preemies. And that is awesome. After all my hard work Bella developed milk allergy, can you believe it???
But she is 18 months now and she is over her allergy, she loves milk, mini go yogurts, cheese, all the good stuff. Bella also drank neosure and liked it.
Can I just say Brayden is so beautiful? Too bad we live in different countries, otherwise we could arrange our preemies to date in the future! haha
Lots of love all the way from cold Canada
Rita and Bella
That little man is just so adorable. I love his little face so much. Big hugs to you guys.
I exclusively pumped for 4.5 months (my daughter never latched but I wanted her to have the milk). Way to go on how long you were able to keep it up, Lord knows it's not easy!
Awesome job with all the pumping! My Brayden was born at 32 weeks and even though he's almost 3 months old I am still having to pump alot, because he still isn't the best at nursing enough to get all that he needs. That's so wonderful that you were able to pump and have enough milk for so long! He's adorable. :)
Man, I cant believe you were able to pump that long! Timothy loves Neosure.. We buy the jugs for home and powder for daycare. He very much prefers the jugs.. ( I think its mixed better) Your developmental people should be able to give you some coupons for it (income level has no bearing on coupons!! yaya!)And check out diapers.com.. I buy his jugs by the case with a discount on there.. REALLY helps!! I love seeing your encouraging words about PT! March 23 is our big day.. because the private facility is soo booked out.. (I'm glad our insurance will cover this too!!)
he is adorable!!
and yea, a pumping mom is A LOT of work!! especially for a preemie mom!

Wonderful, wonderful that you have been pumping for Brayden- on top of everything else, that is pretty amazing! I bet his PT/OT ladies just adore him :) I am not surprised he took to the formula so easily. . .he is a guys that just seems to take everything in stride. He truly seems like such a happy, easy going boy!
To pump for 5.5 months is amazing! Way to go Mommy!
Glad things are going well. Still praying for you and your precious family.
So glad to hear all this wonderful news about Brayden and how awesome he's doing.
Congrats on pumping for 5.5 months...I did 5. Its hard when all you get to do is pump. You did great! We used Neosure formula after as well without problems.
I continue to follow your sweet baby boy. He has done amazing things!
omg... what a cutie!!!
Such good news that he's handling the formula well! My GG did too and actually love the stuff, almost seeming as though she couldn't get enough!
He's a cutie patootie!
My sweet boy is the same age & I quit bf around Feb. 1. I just didn't produce enough. My daughter was the same way and it didn't bother her a bit!
