G Tube Button

Today was a big day for us. We took B to Children's to have his Feeding tube changed out. Derek took off work and we made it a family affair.

When B originally had surgery to have his tube placed they put in a long PEG tube for 12 weeks. This tube allows for proper healing and such. Although the feeding tube made our life easier the long tube quickly become annoying. We had to always tape it up and keep little B hands off of it. We were looking forward very much to the day it would be changed...today!!

Old tube right before it was changed.
We had to come into the outpatient surgery clinic for a nurse to change it and then teach us how to change it from here on out. Pulling at the PEG tube isn't pleasant, it's like getting your ears pierced, pain and then it goes away. B turned bright red and held his breath for a few seconds, no tears though. He calmed pretty quickly and then was smiling...surprise surprise!!

New small button!
After we had to get a quick x-ray with contrast to make sure it was in the right spot and it all had healed correctly over the last 12 weeks.

It all looks great. A+ patient!! Happy today went so well!!

Super appropriate shirt! Looks WAY less cumbersome for you guys! Also, may I say that D looks like he has been losing weight - is it all the marathon training? How is the training going - especially after the fall?
