As I have mentioned Derek has been training for the Chicago Marathon. Today he ran it!!
D has been training for 9 months and ran with The Ronald McDonald House team, a charity close to our hearts. He raised over $1100 in support of them. In the process he also lost 50lbs...WOW!!
Today was a chilly Chicago day but no raining sight and it was a beautiful event. B and I stayed warm at home and met D after with our families to celebrate. We sent him these pictures before his race.
My mom and I made the posters and my step dad filled in with his awesome artist skills. I just about died when I saw the sketch of D running with the Chicago sky line, so cool!

Congrats on such a great accomplishment.
My sister ran it in 2003. She ran it with her husband and her bone marrow transplant donor. (my sister was 2 yrs out from her bone marrow transplant at the time from stage four non-hodgkin's lymphoma). She now is the mother of a energized 9 yr old.
It was a rather chilly day but it has been so warm and rather hot the last few years for this event.

When I was a kid my Dad ran the Chicago Marathan several times(he's from there). My Grandma and I would meet him at several spots along the course to cheer for him. I have many fond (and cold) memories of that.
That is awesome! I did a half and the whole time kept thinking that I could NEVER run a full!
