Making the leap to GREEN

The last few years I really wanted to try the whole 'green' thing I kept hearing about. The all natural more healthy thing really appealed to me but the whole undertaking of changing all my products kept it just an idea in the back of my mind. I always said well someday I will. Someday came in January of this year. I decided new year new lifestyle. Time to rip off the band aid and just do it.

An undertaking it was for sure. I was really overwhelmed at first when I started researching about chemicals that are in typical products and once I started reading how bad they are and looking at all the labels on my products my head was spinning...it's in everything! Through green sites and word of mouth I found some new stuff I wanted to try and gathered all my old stuff up to donate. The loss of money really annoyed me but I was in, 100% or nothing!

Now everyone has there own idea of natural and for me I wanted paraben-phthalates-sulfate-artificial color free. These are the things that are really bad for us. I'll spare the lecture but what really made me change was learning about parabens. They are used as a preservative and can mimic estrogen in your body. High estrogen has been linked to cancer. With all the other crap that's out there I wanted to do what I could to at least reduce my chances and what I choose to use on my body is simple, I can control that.

It's been 10 months and I am so happy I did it. I feel good about what my family is using and what we choose to keep in the house.

So is it really worth it? Financially the all natural is typically a little more pricey but for me the benefits out way the cost. As far as seeing a difference? My hair and skin has never been better since I switched. All natural shampoo may just be the hidden hair secret!

For those who want to try it I say go for it, rip of the band-aid and just do it!! With anything once you're use to it, it becomes normal and easy.

I keep telling Jorden we need to transition more to natural products and stuff but the research part is so overwhelming to me!

What are some of your favorite brands? Especially for shampoo, I really want to change my hair products, especially since it's been 2 months that I haven't been drying or straightening or dying it and my hair is so much healthier! I'm sure changing to natural shampoo would help a lot more too!

Other than shampoo and the likes, what other stuff did you change? Eyeliner, mascara, foundation, etc? I am so uneducated and was curious if that applied to makeup products too.
