More Space

We live in a two bedroom apartment and with baby #2 on the way we are in dire need of MORE SPACE.

Our lease is up in Oct, for those of you keeping track that is after baby arrives. Now I would love to nest and do a nursery for #2 but really the kiddo doesn't use a room for a few months anyhow.

So for now I need to make one room, B's room, work for two! If I can mad organize his dresser and closet I can fit clothes and stuff for two. Well I have no choice.

We are hoping to move in Oct when our lease is up but our requirements for renting are tricky. We must be on the first floor with no stairs because of B's wheelchair and lifting him. We would love to rent a house but we would need a ranch style. It's not impossible but our options are not unlimited. Worst case scenario we renew our current lease for six months and move April 2014. By that time we will be desperate for more space I am sure. Hopefully the move can happen this year but if not we can make it work. Plenty of families have more kids than number of bedrooms. We may be tripping over kids and toys but what can you do?!?

In the mean time we will be crazy organizing around here!

You can definitely make the space work! It will probably be easy at first and get tight as baby #2 gets old but that gives you time if you don't find anything by Oct. My husband is one of 5 brothers and they grew up all sharing bedrooms their whole lives!

We are in the same boat. We own our house and are trying for baby #2 so when that happens then I don't know what we're going to do. Hazel and the baby will have to share for a while I guess. I guess we'll figure that out when I actually get pregnant. haha! I promise, it's a good problem to have. I hope ya'll get organized!

You will be surprised how you make due. My husband and I moved out of our 3 bedroom townhouse 4 weeks before I delivered my second baby (talk about a mommy nesting disaster!) and we moved in with my parents. Into their 3 bedroom house..with all of their stuff and all of our stuff and with all the baby gear. It was crammed...but we made it work for a year. One child was always in our room. So..all this to say..you are not alone and you will be okay. I will however say a prayer that you find what you need in the budget you need. :)

Good luck - I have to admit, I'm always interested in how people make 2 kids in 1 room work because we'll probably be in that same boat :-) My 2 sisters shared a room growing up (4 kids in a 4 bedroom house - with my parent's room being one of the rooms) and they aren't any worse for the wear, so it can be done!! We have a 2 bedroom apartment as well, and since we don't know what state we'll want to settle in (this one or our home state) for the long run, we are renting... and rent on a 3 bedroom is crazy high around here. So yeah, we'll be in the same boat at some point! Good luck - can't wait to see how you make it work!

Good luck! I'm sure you can manage. When our house burnt down I was 12 and my sister was 15 and my brother was 1. We were a family of 5 living in a 2 bedroom apartment for 4 months while we found a new house! It worked for us. It was the only time my sister and I had to share a room and we had SO much fun! My brother bunked with my parents because he was so much younger.

Best of luck house/apt hunting. It can be stressful. You will know when you find the perfect place!!

I'm with ya...I have been having what are, apparently, very extreme growing pains. So much so that I was sobbing all day from the pain. The reward is more than worth it, but it is so hard!!
